Born in Spring Valley, IL on October 31, 1942, Tuck grew up in Princeton, IL before heading off to Antioch College, where he met Sara Jane, to whom he was married for 55 years.
Tuck earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati, and his work took the couple to Georgia, New York, New Jersey, and finally Newark, DE.
