Summer is sizzling away, Fall is “almost” here…

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Hi Gals, Rachelle here. :)

So, where has this summer sizzled away again too? Fall is “almost” here so I wanted to highlight one of my favorite kits by Dani – “FALL CRUSH”! I will have to say my favorite colors right now are PINK & BROWN so this kit is a “MUST HAVE” with Fall fast approaching. :)

Here is the darling kit I used:

Digi Scrapping Made Easy

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

About 3 weeks ago I asked the girls to link me up to some of their layouts using Dani’s creative crops. Wow! I can’t believe how many I ended up with! It just goes to show how useful and versatile they are. I must admit that I have only used them a few times but after seeing all of these fabulous layouts I am inspired to do much more.

So what are creative crops? Dani has created some fantastic template shapes and pulled them all together into one very nice little package to help make digi scrapping even quicker and easier. The best thing is that there is no limit to the way you can use them as you will see from the team LOs I have posted below. Here is what they look like “out of the box”.

Creative Crops

Creative Crops 2

And here is some inspiration to show just a few of the ways they can be used in your layouts.

I LOVE the hearts. Such an easy way to create your own coordinating embellishments on a layout. Here’s a page I created using Dani’s Mahalo kit and the heart crops.

And this LO by Cindy is stunning. She used Dani’s Saturday Market Kit.

I just love the way Michelle has used the crops for some of her two page layouts. What a great way to unify the pages. I think I’ll have to borrow her idea of using the square crops to easily place many photos of her son on one page. Michelle has used Sk8ter Girl and Cabana Boy for her layouts.

The sunray shapes are perfect for summer layouts – and as Justine has shown, also for those rainy day pages.

Missy using Mahalo

Kalli using Dani’s new Country Fair kit

Justine using Heatwave

I haven’t had a chance to use the square, circle or triangle crops yet but I HAVE to now after seeing how they have been used in these pages.

Kalli using Cabana Boy

Amy

They also look great as a border.. who knew? Melinda created this LO using Hard at Play.

I hope you are as inspired as I am to find some new, fun ways to use creative crops. They can of course be found in the Design by Dani store, along with the other kits shown in these layouts. You can find Creative Crops under “Scrappers Toolbox”.

Enjoy playing with these great tools and be sure to link us up with some of the creative ways you have found to use them on your pages.

Thanks for stopping by.

Altered Tuesday – Slideshow!

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Hi everyone!

Libby here. Today I have a very special project to share with you. Some of you may already know that my step-son Logan was killed in an accident in March 2000. He is still a huge part of our lives today.

As a gift for my in-laws for Christmas, I have created a slideshow in PSE filled with Logan’s pictures and set to music. I decorated a DVD case (a freebie that came in the mail from Earthlink) and created a label for the front of the disc.

For my project, I chose Dani’s Hard At Play kit (available both at Sweet Shoppe Designs as well as Design By Dani). I also used stitches from her Ultimate Stitches collections.

logandvdcase.jpg
This was one of the easiest and most well-received gifts I’ve ever made. The slideshow itself was much simpler than I thought it would be, and I had the label/case designed in a matter of about 30 minutes.

Thanks for stopping by the blog and checking out my project today! Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Old School meets New School :)

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I am soo guilty of buying the most gorgeous and fun kits, using only a paper and embellie or two, and then archiving it away on a DVD. I never would have done that when I paper scrapped – i would have used every last inch of paper, using the tiniest of offcuts for punches etc. I feel so proud and happy when I pull an older kit out to use again!
I also know that it’s that time of year for you USA mum’s, taking lots of new school year pics, and while we start the school year each Feb in Australia, I’ve been thinking about school stuff cos DD has just become accustomed to going to he gym creche and DH and I have been discussing pre-school enrolment and stuff.

Anyway, that brings me to today’s Classic Dani with a Twist! Old School (Extra Credit) and (Study Sheets) has recently been released at SSD and I thought it would be great to spotlight this kit and see it in action (again – if u already have it in your digikit archives) and mix it with some new, fun Dani stuff!

So what do I love about this kit? It has so many useful and well made items – the rolodex card is my absolute fave there, great number stamps and the star theme will work with so many LO’s for both boys and girls. Oh and I gotta mention the cute boy and girl sticker tabs – love the stampy look and just so fun!
Here’s my LO (a Lift of fellow Aussie Dani Girl, Michelle Filo’s Grungy Piggy Tales LO ) using Old School plus bits from Funky Free, Dani’s 4th July collab with Amy Martin – full credits are here.

This next LO by Kalli is another Michelle Filo lift & combines the Old School stuff (and those Rolodex cards! ) with some Dani flowers and clips. Credits here

Traci Reed has rocked Old School and mixed in some stitches, an actetate monogram , number plate and cute twill words (I love twill words and word strips!!!!) from the This Love Collection.

And I’ll leave you with a lift of Dani herself using Old School, the rolodex cards and some Saturday Market stuff (Edge and Vintage frame by Catrine) – this is my DD who has been referred to as Baby EInstein by some of our friends for well over a year now. Dont forget to link us to any LO’s u have with Old School – Later dudes !

Altered Tuesday ~ Movie Night Kit

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Jiffy Pop (Before)

So I’m walking through Target the other day and what do I spy with my little eye….Jiffy Pop! Remember Jiffy Pop??? Haven’t seen it in years (many years) but it was fun! Always loved watching the big bump in the middle grow as the popcorn popped. So I’m standing there thinking that this might make a fun altered project…..hmmm popcorn goes really good with movies…..I think I’ll add a video store gift card and make a Movie Night Kit!

I started by opening the metal edges that hold the cardboard cover in place and removed the round cover to measure it. I measured the circle at 7″ so I opened up a 7″ circle in my imaging program. I designed the new cover using Dani’s new County Fair Kit – I used some of the pattern papers, the popcorn image, the admission ticket image and a few other fun digi embellishments. After I had it looking the way I wanted, I printed it out on cardstock and cut out the circle. I wanted to have a place to display the video store gift card on the package so I cut a slit into the new cover over the admission ticket image to slide the gift card in.

Gift Card

I decided to leave the original Jiffy Pop cover on the package since it has the instructions, ingredients, etc; so I replaced the original cover on the package and put the new cover over it. I then closed the metal edges back around the covers (they easily bend open and closed). I added some ribbon to the gift card and more ribbon and a wooden button to the handle and now we have this:

Jiffy Pop (After)

I thought this would make a fun gift for teachers, friends, neighbors, etc. – especially with the upcoming fall nights ahead.

Now let’s see your altered projects with some of Dani’s kits! If you’ve got one, please leave a link in the comments because we’d love to check it out! Check back each Tuesday for more fun altered projects!!!       -CindyG

Scraplift Heaven – August Team Scraplift

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Hi there!  It’s me Amy again!  I smile a big smile and giggle a little each time I get to post on here!  And today I get to share with you some scraplift heaven!  I tell you, if there is an incredible pool of scraplifting inspiration, it is with Dani’s Girls.  What a talented bunch!  This month we are lifting Traci, Melissa and Michelle.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out these girls galleries – do so!  There are so many layouts to choose from, I was overwhelmed when it came to choosing.

The first girl to jump in this month was Traci with this fabulous lift of Mellisa’s “For Erin” layout.

Traci used primarily Dani’s terrific “Crazy Love” kit.

Next up, Kalli lifted Michelle’s adorable Christmas Gift layout.

Credits:  Old School kit; Clip on flower from Dani’s Saturday Market kit; Flower from Blooms ‘n Buttons; ‘Matties’ shaped template by Corina Nielsen at Funky Playground Designs; Circle stamp by Shawna Clingerman; It’s A Wrap ribbon by Natalie Braxton; Drop shadows by Traci Murphy; Font: Socially Awkward

Melinda lifted Traci’s layout titled “Looks Good on Me” and did this incredible 2 page layout using Dani’s new County Fair kit.

Nicole lifted Michelle’s “Royal Canberra” layout and came up with this terrific layout:

Don’t you just want to hug him!  He is sooo cute!

And speaking of cute, check out this layout by Kalli!  Her daughter is beautiful and I love the sweet expression on her face!

Kalli lifted Melissa’s layout titled “Miracle of All Creation” using mostly elements from Dani’s “Saturday Market” kit.

Also using “Saturday Market” Rachelle did this fantastic layout focusing on the beautiful flowers she sees at the Farmer’s Market.  Rachelle lifted Melissa’s “Carnival” layout.

I wish those beauties would grow in my garden too!  Fantastic pictures Rachelle!

Traci’s “Looks Good On You” was a favorite of Michelle’s also.  She lifted it to create this fun and fabulous layout.

Okay seriously, how fun is this layout by Missy!  Doesn’t that look like a great way to celebrate your birthday for a 3 year old.  Hehe!  And that little cake they jump over – too cute!

Missy’s layout was inspired by Traci’s fun “3rd Birthday, Take 3” and most items are from the County Fair kit and Imperfect Stitches element pack.

See, I told you at the beginning these girls rawk!  Melissa made me chuckle with this layout as I too have told myself the same thing regarding the Leapster.  Michelle’s layout “6 Months” was her inspiration for this great layout!  I love the close up photos in this layout.  Awesome perspective!

And I’ll end today’s post on the sweetest of notes.  Take a look at this layout by Cindy!  Wow!  Cindy lifted Traci’s “Self-Portrait” layout.

Cindy used the “Love Me Tender” kit from the “This Love Collection” as well as many other elements.  You can check out her credits here.

What did I tell you?  Awesome layouts and source of inspiration right?  So, check out Melissa, Michelle’s and Traci’s galleries, pick a layout that speaks to you and give it a lift!  Link us up here and rumor has it – you just might win a gift certificate for Dani’s store!  What a deal!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day and I hope you get lots of scrapping in over the weekend!Â
