Our Winner

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Thank you for all the great entries in the November template challenge! Everyone’s layouts were great, and I love how different each page was. Our winner this month is Rachael Giallongo and her Sweetie Pie layout. She used Dani Mogstad’s Scared Silly collab with Jacque Larsen, and I think her page is adorable.

A quick and easy altered gift!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Hey everyone! Traci here with a quick and easy holiday gift!  I made an altered clipboard with a layout I made fro Dani’s Spookable kit!

IMG_2787

You can use any size clipboard for this, my clipboard was a little larger than 8.5×11 so I had the clipboard itsel showing around the edges, which happened to work with the colors in the layout, but if you have the same issue, you can always paint your clipboard a matching color first!  If you use a smaller clipboard, you won’t have this issue.

Next, design your layout on the computer and print it on photo paper. I use glossy, but some people prefer matte. When the layout is FULLY DRY (very important) trim the edges and apply to clipboard using your favorite  adhesive, making sure you smooth out all the wrinkles.

After it is dried to the clipboard, I chose to put a light layer of modgepodge over the layout and clipboard edges for a glossy finish. Apply everywhere except under the clip so you dot stick the clip down and ruin your layout.

Finally, I tied a cute bow to the top of the clip!

Quick and easy and all the grandparents love them!

How are your Christmas gifts coming along?

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Hi there,

I must first admit I’m completely and utterly useless when it comes to paper, glue and scissors, so I defnitely don’t do hybrid projects.  That is one of the reasons I just LOVE Dani’s seasonal card and calendar templates.  They allow me to easily make a great gift!

So, it is the Monday after the long Thanksgiving weekend and I’m trying to get back on track for my Christmas shopping and really making sure I get all my digital scrapbooking gifts ready for printing this week.  I’m hoping to inspire you to get ahead of things and put together some fantastic calendars for the family.

Here is the 2008 Calendar I’m doing for the Grandparents this year.  I’m also making one for my husband to take to his office at work.

Here’s the January page.

I used Dani’s 2008 8×10 Calendar:

Counting My Blessings

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Kellie here, from the very wet island of Borneo; there is a tropical storm in the South China Sea that has been throwing rain our way and cooling things off. The biggest blessing I had yesterday on Thanksgiving was cool, fall-like weather. For the first time in the four years I have lived here, I put on long sleeves!

Anyway, I decided to take the Sweet Shoppe Sweet Inspiration Challenge and count my blessings. I should have added being one of Dani’s girls to the list, but I didn’t have enough room. ;) Here it is:

Blessings
I used Winter Thrill because that red background paper was just calling my name, and I’m such a sucker for red & blue. If you can’t read my blessings, here they are: Happy Marriage (wasn’t always that way, and it’s a lot of hard work to keep it that way, but it’s worth every sacrifice I make to be in love with my baby’s daddy:), Loving Myself (once again, hasn’t always been that way, but I’m so content with the way I look and where my life is going these days), there are my two boys, my friends, my family, and that big one, “Sunsets on the South China Sea.”  I miss America; I miss my family; I miss WalMart & Target & Cracker Barrel, but life here is great, and that photo and that experience (which is a regular occurance) sum up how much I love my life here.  So that’s me in a nutshell.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get lots of goodies.

Here is Winter Thrill, and it is 40% off today at the Sweet Shoppe!!

These next 2 products are staples that should occupy the hard drive of every digital scrapbooker:

Hand Stitched Felt Alphabet–Includes FIVE, yes 5, sets of alphas!

All the images are linked up for your shopping pleasure, and don’t forget everything is 40% on Friday at SSD!

Winter’s Coming…….

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

or it’s here early for some already, and Dani has teamed up with Laura Deacetis from the Sweet Shoppe to create 2 of the most beautiful winter kits to scrap with. I am in love with both of these……..the first one is called Snow Bunny……pink, creams, and browns and totally yummy!!

And the second one with Blues, creams and browns is just as gorgeous…..Jack Frost:

Both of these kits are so jam packed with amazing elements, and the best thing about them is that they are so interchangeable. You can mix and match the elements from each kit and create an endless number of layouts. I think one of my favorite parts of the kits are the alphas, I love using different alphabets on my layouts and both of these are completely adorable.

This one is from the Snow Bunny Kit….how cute is it with the crocheted edge and the sprinkling of glitter!?! I just love it!

And this Corduroy one is from the Jackfrost kit……so warm and fuzzy!

Now for the eye candy! :) These are some of the beautiful layouts created by some of Dani’s CT Members:

The first ones I will show you use the Snow Bunny kit. This layout was created by Erica (pne123) and is just gorgeous, so soft and delicate and pink….I just love it. It is called “Let It Snow

The next one is by Vanessa entitled “Winter Wonderland”

What a sweet series of photos and I love how she chose to use the rick chocolately background for her LO, such cute title work too!

This one is mine using the Snow Bunny Kit and quite a few elements from the Jack Frost kit as well, it is called “You are Snow Adorable

Now I will show you some more layouts using Dani’s Jack Frost kit. If you are like me and are running out of snow pictures to scrap LOL, or you live in an area that just doesn’t get snow, Michelle and Justine show perfect examples of other LO’s that can be created using these kits. The first one is by Michelle Filo…..called “Bundled Up” It is just so sweet, the pictures are just adorable and I really love how she did the title here:

And this layout by Justine, it is called “D’oh Man“, the blue tones in this kit compliment her photos so well and I love her cluster of elements with the title:

This one is by Amy Blesser, and is called “Brrr!”. I love the b/w photos with this kit and the whole chilly feeling this layout gives you…..it’s so pretty.

And Finally, a gorgeous layout by Dani herself! I can never pass up clicking on her layouts in the galleries to get a better look when I come across them, they are just awesome. This one is called “Snow Bundled“….

Both of these kits are currently available at the Sweet Shoppe……Snow Bunny and Jack Frost

Christmas Stocking

It’s that time of year! I’m already getting ready and I found a fun way to wrap up some gift cards I’ll be giving out next month. Dani’s Kitschmas Cheer kit has such fun papers and I knew I wanted to make a stocking as soon as I saw them. To make a stocking like this, cut two stocking shapes and glue the edges together leaving an opening at the top to slide the gift card and some tissue paper in (you can go online and do a search for a stocking template to use as your pattern for tracing and cutting a stocking shape). Embellish the front of the stocking – I decided to use the red and gold papers and found some coordinating red and gold ribbon to match the papers. I also added the “Merry and Bright” label from the kit. Once you have your stocking finished and stuffed, you can hang it on the tree or hand it out – either way it’ll make a fun & festive gift wrapping. Happy Holidays!

November Team Scraplift – Part 1

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Hey everyone!  Amy here with part one of this month’s Dani’s Girl scraplift!  Each month we pick a few of our wonderful team members and honor them with a lift!  This month’s featured Dani’s girls are Erica, Rachelle and Melissa!  Spend a few minutes in each of these girls galleries and you will be Wow’d with a Capital W!  I always find it so interesting to see what my team mates do with the same kit!  Everyone’s use of the different elements and backgrounds are always so varied and creative.

So, let’s take a look at what the girls did this month!

First up is this wonderful layout by Erica!  Erica chose to lift Justine’s “The Duck Quacks” layout.  Erica took inspiration especially from Justine’s fantastic photo arrangement.  Erica’s daughter is so adorable and the confetti around the page is just perfect!  Erica used designs from Dani’s “It’s My Party” kit.

Next, Missy lifted Erica’s layout titled “Endless Summer Fun.”  Missy’s layout is so fun – love the pictures, title work and how she did the journaling over the repeated circles!  Another great one!

Look at this next one by Michelle!  She totally rawked Dani’s new kit titled ”Jack Frost” and used it for a fun baby boy/winter layout. Too cute.  Michelle’s layout was inspired by “Popsicle Freeze” by Justine.

Missy’s “Pre-K o6″ layout was Kalli’s inspiration for her layout titled “Mrs. Natalie.”  Kalli used Dani’s “Joy” kit to create this fun and whimsical layout.  The tags “hanging” by the stitches is really cool!  Kalli’s layout is so pretty!

Justine’s layout was inspired by Missy’s “First Day of Preschool Layout“.  Justine and I both live in warm climates where we don’t get snow so Justine and I borrowed photos from Michelle to use Dani’s fantastic “Winter Thrill” kit.  Justine did a fantastic job of creating a layout every bit as fun as these fun pictures of Michelle and her son in the snow!

Cindy lifted Missy’s “Typical Boy” layout and created this wonderful layout about the “Joys of Christmas”  I love how Cindy used the hanging alpha from Dani’s Kitshmas Cheer kit and how she dangled the tag off of one of the strings.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look at these fabulous layouts.  One random commenter will win a $5 gift certificate to Dani’s store!  So, don’t just look and silently ooh and ahhh – tell us what you think of these rawkin layouts!  :)   Have a great day!

Altered Friday!

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Good Friday Morning!

Today I’ve got a fun gift for that little one in your life.  I made one of these for my daughter a few years back, and it was a huge hit.  This is a tooth fairy box.  When she loses a tooth, she just puts it in the box beside her bed, and the tooth fairy leaves her a prize in return.  This is MUCH easier than the whole “under the pillow” thing, and she LOVES going to get her special box out every time she loses a tooth.

To create this project, all you need is a small paper mache box (this one was 99 cents at Hobby Lobby — it measure approximately 2″x3″), some walnut ink (or any paint or ink pad would be fine), mod podge, and digital supplies.  Mine was decorated with the following supplies by Dani -

Mahalo kit (background paper)
It’s My Party (solid green & kraft papers)
Creative Crops 2 (heart shape)
Acrylic Alpha

kileytoothbox.jpg

I used the walnut ink to age the box.  I chose to do this to avoid covering the sides with paper.  This way, there is no issue with the lid fitting properly after it’s decorated.

Then, I created my design and printed it out on white cardstock.  I sprayed a sealant by Krylon over the printed page to avoid smearing.

Finally, I applied mod podge to my lid and attached my design.  After allowing that to dry, I brushed on a final coat of mod podge to seal.

Very easy to finish, and my friend’s daughter loved it!  I hope you enjoy it, too!
