We’ve got a winner!!

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Thank you to everyone who played along with us this month in our template challenge. I know it was a busy month, and I hope that it helped you get a great Christmas page finished.

I randomly chose a number and Brittney is our winner! Don’t you just love the sweet expression on her grandmother’s face? Congratulations, and Dani will be sending you a $5 gift card.

I’d also like to take a moment to say thank you to Dani and the other girls for allowing me to play with them for the last 6 months. I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed being a part of this wonderful team.

Dani Girl Memories (Part 2)

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Well, I am sad to say this will be my last blog post as a member of Dani’s Creative Team too. We are all so fortunate to have had a wonderful 6 months on her team and we were all able to create so many wonderful LOs and projects with her amazing designs. I am going to share the last half of everyone’s personal favorites with you!

One of my favorite layouts as a member of Dani’s Team was this one using Dani’s “Mahalo” kit that she created with Miriam Lima. I just love this photo of my hubby and kids and this was such the perfect kit to scrap it with, right down to the themed elements and colors.

hand_in_handb_copysmallb.jpg

Next up is one of Missy’s personal faves that she did using Dani’s Saturday Market elements and papers. This was one of her favorites because all of her three boys were pictured and the kit made her think of summer and rolling in the grass, being outdoors, or going to farmers market. Her boys were having so much fun playing in the grass of course she had to grab her camera! Dani’s kit captured the moment perfectly for her…….such an adorable photo and beautiful LO!

Next is a hybrid project and LO from Melinda. Her hybrid project uses Dani’s Kitschmas Cheer Elements and Papers and is just the cutest little Christmas tree! I love it….I might have to steal the idea for next year…..check it out:

KitschmasTree-web1.jpg

And this is one of Melinda’s favorite layouts she created, entitled “First Gingerbread House”, using Dani’s 2 Scoops kit “Snow Bunny” that she did with Laura Deacetis from the Sweet Shoppe. She also added quite a few other elements from some of Dani’s other holiday kits that resulted in the perfect combination to capture her memories of this adorable house with the pastel candies and caramel swirls…….so PRETTY!

Are you ready for something SUPER adorable?!?? This next project was one of Cindy G’s favorite projects……I totally am in love with it. It is so fun and colorful, perfect for a little girl’s birthday. She used Dani’s Clownin’ Around kit.

DM_Birthday_Hat_and_Card1.jpg

One of Libby’s favorite LOs was one using Dani’s Winter Thrill kit. Gorgeous LO and photo…….I love how she slightly retinted the background paper to work better with her photo. Also, I always adore Libby’s great title work and this is a perfect example of it!

winter1.jpg

Libby also created a lot of great hybrid projects on the team as well…..this was one of her personal favorites using papers from Dani’s Spring Break Paper Pack. Such a cute idea Libby!:

Thank you for taking time to look through some of our favorites. I had such a blast on Dani’s team, she is so talented and every kit she came out with during out term on her team was so fun to use!

Have a great day everyone!

Dani Girl Memories (part 1)

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

As the last few posts have mentioned, it’s nearly the end of the road for the current Dani Girl team. It’s safe to say, we’ve all been lucky ducks, getting to play with such cool designs on a regular basis! So Cindy S and I asked the rest of the girls to select a favourite LO or two that they’ve created while being part of the team for a bit of a bittersweet memorial post. SO here goes….

this is one of my fave LO’s and I love it because it’s so bright and fun like my dd and captures some of the joy she finds in everyday activities – making noise lol! It uses a classic Dani kit called Sassy Pants

This next one is one of Erica’s faves. She says ” It’s my sweet little Sarah right before turning two. I really love [Dani's] It’s My Party kit and ended up doing Sarah’s 1st and 2nd birthday layouts with it” – PS. check out her Your Favourite Pair gallery for those other cute LO’s!

This is Vanessa’s pick as a fave. Look at that cute red nose! Love the colours of the Jack Frost collab with Laura Deacetis for this photo and the composition.

Michelle Filo chose this LO using Dani Mogstad’s Saturday Market elements and papers and says ” what can I say? it is a stunning kit and the topic is my grandad, just too close to my heart to pass as one of my favorites”

Melissa Lewis has chosen a LO using Dani Mogstad/Shawna Clingerman’s A Year of Memories: August kit – i love the towel shots in this LO and the August sun poking out!

joelsgirl_Kellie says “I love “ski or die” the best. Because I had to scrap winter pictures and I live in a country that doesn’t have winter (or even cold weather), I had my mom dig up these old photos and I scrapped them. I love this memory; it’s one we still laugh about ten years later. ” – now thats what scrapping is all about!

It’s easy to see why this would be Traci Reed’s fave – gorgeous kids, a merry theme, and a great kit (that she collab’ed with Dani to produce! check it out if you haven’t already got Sleigh Bells Ring)

Kalli loves her LO using MVP – so cute and love the edge work and clustering!

Nicole Ishida shared this one using Dani Mogstad’s Spookable kit – look how he’s gazing up at the tree! Adorable!

… and the reminiscing will continue with Cindy S soon. I’ve so loved being a Dani Girl and being part of this wonderful group – i will miss all of it! ok I’ll stop blubbering now and head back to my xmas mess clean – up! I hope you’ll continue to create happy memories and LO’s in 2008!

Best wishes, Justine (aka Bellbird)

January Desktop

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

I hope you all had a merry Christmas, for those of you who celebrate Christmas. We spent Christmas day at the beach, one of the pluses of living on the equator. Of course, it’s hard for this American girl to get into the holiday spirit when it’s 95 degrees outside! And we got a wonderful surprise today from a group of friends in the States who sent us a huge box full of gravy mix, taco seasoning, Wheat Thins & Velveeta cheese! Those of you who live away from home know how wonderful care packages can be, and this was top notch!

But all of that has nothing to do with my title. ;) I whipped up (okay, more like slaved over, but you know what I mean) a January Desktop for you using Jack Frost by Dani & Laura Deacetis , available at the Sweet Shoppe. Here it is (cute baby not included):

Here’s Jack Frost by Laura & Dani.

I also used a frame from Hang A Shining Star, ribbon from It’s My Party and Cafe Rojo font.

I hope you like it and that the rest of your week will be merry & bright!

He’s arrived and a little inspiration!

Friday, December 21st, 2007

He’s arrived and I just have to show him off.  My friends had their little boy just a few days after Thanksgiving and I was lucky enough to help with the Baby Announcements.  Now if you didn’t see my post from a few months back, I guess I should warn you that my friends are sports fanatics, so of course when they found out they were having a boy it was an easy decision on  the theme for the baby’s room, the baby shower and the baby announcements.

Here’s the baby announcement with some info removed for privacy, but you can see what a cutie he is and just how much fun you can have with Dani’s MVP Kit.

Welcome Baby

Before I head out for the holidays I’d like to share some of my favorite holiday layouts from Dani’s CT.

In need of quick, last minute Christmas Gifts?

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Well these were super simple to make and adorable to boot! The grandparents will love em!

dani'sblog-1

First, I made myself a little layout using Dani and I’s Sleigh Bells Ring kit at SSD and a pic of my little guys. I kept it simple because it would be so small and I left a lot of room at the bottom for the “snow” to cover.

danisblog-2

Then I printed it out a little bigger than 3×3. The size will vary depending on what size ornaments you buy, (I got extra large ornaments) but you want to make it so that it’s large enough top to bottom and side to side to bump up against the sides of the ornament so it will stand up better inside and have a little more support.

After I had them all cut and printed, I rolled up the layout small enough to fit in the mouth of the ornament and pushed it inside.

danisblog-3

Now this is not helpful.

danisblog-4

So what did I do? I busted out the crochet needle! Certainly anything long and skinny and blunt will do but I found the little hook on the crochet needle worked to my advantage in repositioning the layout. This truly was the hardest part of the whole process, getting it to sit upright, but keep at it and you’ll get it!

danisblog-5

Once you have it standing up where you want it, here comes the messy part! I put tons of “Rainbow Snow” glittery flakes in mine and of course, didn’t have a funnel. So I did it the hard way, I tried to make a paper funnel but that ended up being harder than just scooping up the glitter with my fingers or a spoon so that’s what I did!

danisblog-6

I filled it up to the bottom of my numbers on my layout, making sure to shake a bit to get it around the back of my picture, then I stuck my finger in the ornament and wiped off the top of the picture as much as I could to get the glitter off. Then I put some pretty glittery poinsettias I found at the craft store in with them, put the top on the ornament and I was done! I did 4 in about an hour and a half, including computer time!

danisblog-7

You can do other creative things too! Try wrapping a ribbon around the outside or filling with ribbon instead of faux snow!

Have fun!

her goodies!  And become friends with all of the other ladies on the team.

One last thing, please feel free to download the zip file that has the full resolutions
card of each cookie recipe, I know they’re a little hard to read and please feel

Altered Tuesday ~ Photo Gift Box

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

GTB7.jpg

With Christmas right around the corner I thought it would be fun to make a gift box where the box was also part of the gift. The box I have today isn’t very “Christmasy” but I plan to do more that are more festive with some of the Christmas kits Dani has out now. I couldn’t resist this beautiful “Snow Bunny” kit by Dani and Laura Deacetis so I decided to use it for my first gift box.

I started with a plain paper mache box and began by measuring the box top so I could size a photo to fit perfectly on the top of the lid. I then cropped and resized my photo. On this photo I also made the photo black and white and then adjusted the hue so it would be brown tones (as opposed to black and grey) to match the papers.

GTB8.jpg

GTBlog1.jpg

I measured the bottom of the box and printed two strips of brown and pink polka dot paper (enough to fit around the sides of the box). I also printed two strips to pink plaid paper to go around the sides of the box lid. I used decorative scissors to cut a scalloped edge at the bottom of the pink paper. When everything was printed and cut out, I adhered it all to the box. I added some ribbon, a flower, rub-ons and button to dress it all up a bit.

Hope you enjoyed today’s altered project! I sure had fun making it!!! -Cindy
