Hybrid: Scrap-a-shirt

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Hi all – time for another practical example of use of your scrap supplies and I’ve used the Littlest Bakeshop collab kit, by Dani, Mandabean and Fee Jardine which is so cute and would really make for a great kids apron transfer if you want to make a personalised gift

Supplies:
Digi-kit
Transfer paper for printing
Plain T-shirt
Iron

1.I made my art in Photoshop. It says ‘ Mummy has a bun in the oven’ and will hopefully be the way we share our news with some family and friends. I resized it down to fit the area i wanted to cover on the t-shir I bought for my daughter.
2. Following the instructions on the Transfer paper, we test printed the image on some plain paper and then selected T-shirt Transfer in our print menu options so the image would be mirror-reversed when it printed but would be perfect when ironed on. If your printer doesnt have this option, you could just ‘flip horizontal’ your image.
3. Printed image was left for at least 30mins, as per instructions, to dry properly
4. Ironed the shirt and left it to cool.
5. Lined up the transfer and then ironed it on while on a hard surface (the kitchen table covered with a pillowcase). I had to re-cover and iron a few bits at the edges so they adhered properly.

6. Optional – add extra bits like real buttons, bows, gems – which i’ll probably do before she wears it.

Looking for something extra Sweet?
