Good evening everyone! I apologize for the late blog post tody. I am in the middle of planning my son’s birthday party for tomorrow and I am going nuts. So much to do and so little time! Since I have birthday on the brain right now I thought I would highlight Dani’s super cute “A Very Merry Unbirthday” kit that she did with Mandabean. I love the colors in this kit and all the little elements are so detailed and fantastic. This kit works great for girls as well as boys.

Playdate with Heat Wave!

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Poor Shannon is having computer issues right now so I thought I’d come on here and post for her today.  She picked an older kit of Dani’s for us to work with.  Sometimes there are those kits that you forget you have in your stash and when you find them they just seem perfect at the time.  This is one of those kits.  With all the summer activities going on around here where I live Heat Wave is just what I need to get the scrapping ideas flowing.  So go check out this kit and our layouts below showing it off!

Paper Bag Card

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Lately I’ve been addicted to making cards. Oragami Cards, shape cards, and everything else! This weekend I was reading Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine {Premiere Issue) when I came across a very easy and unique project, the Paper Bag Card. I remembered making one of these before during my rubber stamping days, but I hadn’t seen it done in a few years. BTW- The Premiere Issue of Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine is FREE! CLICK HERE.

Here’s my card:

Inside, notice the fun little pocket.

Template I created for you:

One thing I didn’t add to my card was an insert in the pocket on the right. It’s a great place for a map or other stuff! Have fun and I’d love to see what you do with this!

And, of course, Dani is working on a new kit that should be available later on this month. I can give you a little peek now though. Doesn’t it look wonderful?

For a bit of fun with Independence Day layouts and projects, check out Dani’s Yankee Doodle Candy mini kit. I love the addition of the lime green!

And this concludes my last post as a Dani’s Girl, sniff sniff. I want to give a big thanks to Dani. It was honor to be on her CT and I can’t believe how quickly the time flew by.

The Beach Test

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

It’s summer and Dani has come out with some amazing beachy watery kits the past few weeks so I found this cute little quiz to see what your idea of the beach says about you.  My results were somewhat true to my personality.

THE BEACH TEST

My Results:  You tend to be a very social person. You live for your friends and family. You can get social burnout occasionally though. You aren’t a total extrovert.  You don’t fall in love easily. It takes you a long time to get used to someone. Intimacy doesn’t come easily for you.  You are deeply passionate about several things in your life. You’re not passionate about much… and the few passions you have are truly obsessions.  Your sense of humor is sarcastic, snarky, and realistic. You’re not exactly happy-go-lucky.

Acrylic Hybrid Album

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Hi everyone! Steph (islandmom) with my first post here on the blog and I am so excited about my project I have to share! I am really LOVING acrylic albums right now! They are so much FUN!

On this project, I used HER ROYAL HIGHNESS album by Dani and Emily. I LOVE this album and thought it would be perfect for an album for my pre-teen daughter! :-)

Other supplies you will need: an acrylic album (I used an 8×8), glue, coordinating embellishments such as ribbons, brads, flowers, buttons, and bling stickers. I also used some white rub-ons, some black paint, and the new Zig fast drying Painty Twin pen (in black and white).

The trickiest part of this project is the digital part…lol. You need to know how many pages you will need by looking at your acrylic album. My album had 5 pieces of acrylic (including front and back covers), so I knew I needed 10 pages (I didn’t end up using one of them because I painted the back of the cover). When adding photos to the album pages, you need to make sure you have pages going the opposite direction of the page it will back up to. The pages come numbered in the digital file, to help with this!

After printing and cutting the album out, take a few minutes and place the pages on the acrylic album (but don’t glue yet), so you know the order and know that everything lines up like it should.

Now is the FUN part…adding embellishments! I used a dry brush to brush black paint on the back of the cover. I did this because I didn’t like how the pictures lined up through the cover and I thought it was distracting…you don’t need to do this if you don’t want to. After adding my brads and flowers, I glued the cover down and used the white rub-ons and pen to decorate the cover.

I continued to add goodies to the rest of the pages and then line them up with the other pages (so I liked the view through each layer of acrylic and so on). Once I was happy with the look of everything, I glued each page down.

The last thing I did was draw a scalloped edge around each layout once it was glued down with my white pen. After everything had dried, I added ribbons on the rings.

The most important thing is to HAVE FUN!!! :0)
