Dani has a new kit called Holiday Spirit

I used it to get ready for the holidays by making some gift tags. Here is what I did in Photoshop and then printed

I cut them out and on some I punched holes for ribbon & others I just added buttons.

Tumble Class with Melissa

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Hi Everyone…I’m bringing you this month’s Tumble…We are tumbling Melissa (mlewis) who is extremly talented and creates some of the most amazing layouts.  If you haven’t already checked her gallery out I’m sure once you take a look you will understand why I say she is extremely talented.  She has two very cute children that are the focus of the majority of her layouts.  I love the fact that she captures the everyday moments of her children.  I’m sure you will find lots of inspiration in her gallery.  So go check it out here and chose a layout that captures your eye and give it a tumble.  Make sure you come back and post your link by 11/16 for a chance to win a gift card to Dani’s shop.  Have fun!

Here are a few layouts Dani’s girls tumbled…

Shannon lifted Grandparents

Tracy lifted Rejoice

Corey lifted Little Pumpkin

And Me (Rachelle) – I lifted New Friends

Spooky little finds…

I would have to say that Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year.  The colors, the decorations, the costumes and yes, the candy.  Dani has so many goodies in the store that are just perfect for this season so I thought I would show off a few of them.

First off if you didn’t pick up the collab Scared Silly that she did with Jacque Larsen last year, then you’re in luck because Dani has put her part of it up as a mini kit in the store now.

And to go along with it be sure to check out these three creepy crawly alphas…

You can buy them separately or get a deal when you purchase them as a combo set…

I hope these elements and alphas will give you inspiration to create that perfect ooky-spooky layout this year!

Spooky Haunted House

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Hey there scrappers! Megan here bringing you another Altered Tuesday! Halloween is getting close and I’ve been having loads of fun making some little hybrids! I found a wooden haunted house at Michael’s and thought it’s be super cute if I dressed it up with some of Dani’s goodies! You don’t have to find a haunted house… you could just find a high-pitched birdhouse at the craft store and alter that!

So, here’s what I needed:

Dani’s Happy Haunting Kit

Crafting supplies: haunted house, black acrylic paint, Mod Podge, foam brush, Xacto knife, sanding sponge, black glitter, foam adhesive squares, wiggly eyes

First I prepared the house. I sanded out some of the rough edges and then painted it with my black craft paint.

I printed off some of the papers as 8×8’s on matte photo paper. Then I measured the surfaces of the house and cut out the pieces I needed. I was not at all exact and had a lot of overhang. I roughed up some of the painted surfaces with sand paper and then used Mod Podge to glue the papers on. I let my house sit for about a half hour to let the glue dry. Then I used my Xacto knife to trim off the excess paper. Don’t worry if your edges are messy and jagged… mine were! I went in with my sanding sponge to smooth out the edges and then used some more of my black paint to cover up my mistakes. I used a paper towel to smear the paint because I wanted a messy look.

Next I painted the stand with Mod Podge and dusted the glue with black glitter. Make sure when you use glitter that you protect your working surface with some paper to catch the extra glitter. Then I waited for it to dry and shook off the loose glitter.

I also printed off a few of the elements from Dani’s kit, along with some of the mini wood boards from Family Roots. I used the wood boards to “board up” the front door, attaching them with Mod Podge.

I also mounted a pumpkin and bat on foam adhesive squares. I added some wiggly eyes to the bat. And then I took the house outside and sealed it with a spray sealant! And that was it! Now I’ve got a super cute Halloween decoration! :)
