Lipstick Compact

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

What girl doesn’t need a lipstick compact in her purse…or at least a little mirror?  For this project, I used Dani’s Sweet Cupcake for this project.

I also used the Chelsea box by Creative Imaginations (it even came with a self-adhesive mirror).

I chose one of the papers from Dani’s kit and printed it on 8.5×11 Matte Brochure paper by HP (32lb).  I have always had very good luck with the paper, my home printer ink, and Mod Podge.  I placed the box flat on one side of the paper and traced the pointed edge and then added an additional 5 inches, folded the paper in half lengthwise, and cut it out (the shape will be a rectangle with one pointed end). By folding the paper in half, I ended up with 2 pieces of paper, one for the outside and one for the inside.

Next, I painted mod podge (but you can use any adhesive) on the outside of the box and matched the pointed end of the paper up with the pointed end of the box.  I smoothed out the paper and then did the same for the inside.

The mirror that came with the box already had adhesive on it, so I just peeled of the sticker and centered it.  Lastly, I added a Prima flower and “S” brad and voila!  I have the cutest lipstick compact around!! =0)

Dani’s girls brought to me…a fabulous fresh tumble challenge AND a sweet freebie!!

I can’t believe how this season has been flying by.  We’re deep into the holiday season now and hopefully some of the frenzied hub-bub that comes along with it has given way to beautiful moments spent with loved ones.  Time is more valuable than ever these days, and in this spirit, I’ve come up with a little something to help you capture those memories without taking time away from making them.  Stay tuned through the today’s post to grab today’s freebie…

But first….it’s time to announce the winner of last month’s tumble challenge featuring Megan (mturnridge).  Congratulations to Brittney (designerbrittney)!!  You can take a peek at Brittney’s winning layout “Hugs” and leave some love here: Hugs…Congrats, Brittney!  Don’t forget to contact Dani at Designs by Dani to claim your goodies.

Now, on to this month.  This month’s Tumble Challenge features a fabulous, fabulous scrapper and Dani’s Girl, Kristin (flattsgurl).  Her pages have a classic look to them and I love how she beautifully captures moments with fabulous photos and journaling.  Her pages are just the perfect kind for scrapping those beautiful holiday memories we’re making!

So you know the drill.  Take a peek at Kristin’s Sweet Shoppe Designs gallery HERE.  Then pick a layout that inspires you, give it a tumble, and share it with us here in the comments.  A winner will be chosen from the challenge participants and gifted with a GC to Dani’s store!!

And for a little extra inspiration, take a look at how Dani’s girls were inspired by Kristin…

Wishing you all the best this holiday season!!  May you be enjoy all the good things!!!

On the 9th day…

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I keep looking at the calendar in disbelief that we’re only a few short days away from Christmas.  I’m finally finished with buying and making gifts and only have few left to wrap.  I have to admit this is the first year I’ve been this *prepared* so early.  I actually had time to make myself a gift and thought I’d share it with you in case you have any last minute gifts you need to make.  Hope you enjoy this tumbler insert I created using Dani’s Holiday Spirit Kit.   Just add your own photo and you have an instant gift for a loved one or even for yourself.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas…

Some of my favorite Christmas memories involve food: sitting down to special meals with family and friends; delivering treat baskets to neighbors; and baking cookies, with my mother as a child and now with my kids. Gingerbread Men are just about my favorite.

Here is my recipe card. Created with Sweet Cupcake and Candy Coated Christmas. (Don’t you love that little gingerbread man?!)

Enjoy!
