Hey scrapers!! It’s Megan again! I sure hope you had an awesome holiday season! Now it’s time to start thinking about fun little hybrid projects for Valentine’s Day! I was so excited to see Target was carrying their ADORABLE little tin mailboxes in the Dollar Spot. They carried them last year, but I missed them and didn’t get to buy any. Sooooo, this year I bought 5! Go RUN and grab them before they run out!! They are just too cute! I loved altering it.
Supplies-
Digital: Dani’s Crazy Love Kit
Physical: Mailbox, Craft Bond spray adhesive, fine-tip scissors, pen, assorted ribbons, Prima flowers, alpha beads, brad, button with thread, self-adhesive rhinestones, hot glue gun
So, first I created a 12×12 canvas in PSE. I put a strip of one of Dani’s papers on that canvas, sized 12×5″. I created a new canvas sized 4×4″ and made the front of my mailbox (don’t put anything close to the edges because you’ll be tracing and cutting to fit the box front). Then I merged the layers and dragged my front design to the 12×12 canvas. I then sent this to print at Costco on matte (lustre) paper.

Once I got my print, I cut the long strip of paper down to about 12×4″ to fit the side of my mailbox. I traced around the front door with a pen onto the design for the front and cut it out. Next, I lined up one edge of the long piece with the bottom of the mail flag and marked just below the the flag. I made a small cut out at this point so the paper would fit snugly around the flag.

I wrapped the paper all the way around until the other edge met the flag and trimmed a small amount off the length so there was a little overlap where the edges met. I made another mark and created another cut out for the flag. Then I sprayed the back of this paper with my spray adhesive. The Craft Bond is GREAT for gluing onto metal surfaces. Make sure if you use spray adhesive that you protect your work surface. I just worked outside and put some paper over the table. The overspray is tacky and you don’t want to get it on your desk or any stuff around your work area. Then I took this paper and started with the edge below the flag, tucked in the edge under the flag at the cutout, and wrapped it around the box, pressing firmly to make sure there was a strong bond between the paper and the box.

Then I sprayed the back of the paper for the front, attached it to the door, and let it dry for a few minutes. Then I used my fine-tip scissors to cut off the overhang on the front door.
Then I went crazy decorating with all my fun embellies!! This is always my favorite part.
And that was it! This would be cute to put little Valentines in…. or buy some candies/make some cookies and put a bag inside and give as a gift!
