May Card Day

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

I have been making a lot of cards for girls that when my brother and cousin had a birthday and also a good friend is delivering her baby boy in the same month i realized i lack making cards for boys. It’s actually fun to make cards for the boys! It’s something out of the box for me, but the colors and the themes are very nice. Like these cards i made:

This card is for my cousin who is a die hard fan of cowboy movies. I used Dani’s Rag Tag Cowboy kit and it turns out to wonderful! The colors are earthy yet still modern, it really scream ‘cowboy!’ all around.

This one is for my brother, who is a computer geek. I used Dani’s Tough Guy kit here. The pattern is fresh and masculine, i love it!

This adorable card is a breeze to make with Dani’s Land of Nod kit. The colors are so versatile for both girls and boys.

See more hybrid cards and projects by me at my gallery here. I hope i can inspire you to make cards more, either for boys or girls because we all know that a handmade gift or cards always touch people’s hearts :)

Gallery Inspiration

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Hi everyone, Debra here, and I thought today I would share some totally amazing layouts that are in the galleries using Dani’s products. These are just a few that I found that have been uploaded in the last couple of weeks, and they are so gorgeous. I think we can all agree that Dani is an amazing designer, so it is no wonder that all the layouts I’ve seen using her products totally blow me away!

I’ve chosen three of my favorite kits to highlight:

Cool Dudes by Kim21673 using That’s How We Roll

Splish Splashby Kresta using Deep Blue Sea

Un Peu de Savon by IngridFasquelle also using Deep Blue Sea

Carefreeby Amandabarugh using Pop Goes the World

Teacher appreciation – Dani style!

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Hey Girl Talkers! Leigh here with a little hybrid inspiration for those sweet teachers in our lives!

We just wrapped up Teacher Appreciation Week last week and I used two of my favorite Dani kits to make a couple of my kids’ gifts for their teachers. Although we sent these gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week, they could be used as end of the year gifts or anytime gifts as well!

First up…I decorated this simple Sonic drink holder using Dani’s Pop Goes the World. It is probably my FAVORITE kit of all! So bright and cheerful. I always find myself using something from this kit in EVERY project I start! It totally fits my scrapping personality!

I started with the simple drink holder. I sized, laid out, printed and cut my decorations.

Adhered them to the drink holder using Provo Craft Terrifically Tacky Tape (or red line tape).

Then I decorated them with ribbons, paper shreds and some *goodies* for the teacher and they were ready to go! SO EASY!!

Next on the list were candles. I purchased the candles from Wal-Mart for around $3 each.  For this set I used Dani’s In Your Easter Bonnet kit. I measured, printed and cut out my labels for the candles. I added a note that said “You brighten my days…thank you,” tied ribbon around the top and off they went!

It really felt good to give back to the ladies who do so much for my children every day!

Thanks to all the teachers around the world who love on our kids when they need it most!

Until next time…

Tags & paper

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Recently, I was making a card, snipping out an element from Dani’s Vintage Garden Fairies mini kit, when I realised that the image – a watering can, as it happens – would make an ideal quick and simple gift tag, all by itself.

Lots of Dani’s kits contain many elements that, simply printed out onto card and cut out, would make lovely tags to complement a card made with the same kit.

You can easily take any of the designs and make them completely unique to you by adding a little glitter, ribbon or similar embellishments, as I have with these examples:

tags

As I mentioned earlier, the watering can is from Vintage Garden Fairies, the yellow flower is from Pop Goes the World and the dog bone from Little Buddies mini kit.

With Father’s Day not too far off, Dani has lots of kits that can be used to create the perfect manly card, tag and even wrapping paper.  Take a look at kits such as Father Knows Best, MVP and Rag Tag Cowboy.  I used papers and images from That’s How We Roll (by Dani and Libby Weifenbach) and her recent release Retrospect in the picture below:

wrapping paper n tags

I simply printed the paper out and wrapped my gift, then added complementing ribbon and a tag from the same kit, et voila !

So remember, if you are ever stuck with a last-minute wrapping paper emergency (it can happen!), check your digi-kits for the perfect solution!

Enjoy your day,

Sx
