Father’s Day CD Album
Hey there scrappers! Megan here, posting my very first blog entry on the Girl Talk blog! I made this super easy CD album for my hubby for Father’s Day and I’m going to walk you through what I did so you can make your very own!

Digital supplies: Dani’s Family Roots kit
Crafting supplies: 4 blank CDs, Making Memories Metal Glue (most use the Xyron Cheetah, which I do not own), fine tip crafting scissors, Crop-a-Dile punch, dry adhesive runner, 3D Dots foam adhesive squares, buttons, assorted ribbon, metal ring
To create my album pages, I measured a CD and set my canvas size in PSE to 12×12 cm. I then used the shape tool to create a circle that measured the same dimensions. I used this shape as a template to clip my papers to the right size. Once I finished my pages, I created a new canvas set at 12×18″ and dragged my flattened pages onto it. I was able to fit 7 pages on it and printed the last page on an 8×8″ page along with some other hybrid projects I wanted to print. I sent my pages over to Costco for printing. I always select the lustre (matte) finish when doing hybrids because it is more forgiving of fingerprints and I love the texture. *TIP: I have found that Costco enlarges your print slightly and crops off some of the edges. I drives me nuts. But, I have learned to keep everything about 1/4 in away from the edges when printing through them to avoid cropping anything important.
Once I had my prints, I cut out my pages and attached them to the CDs with the metal glue. This glue is really strong and a tiny bit goes a long way! The glue dries very quickly. I then trimmed off any overhang with my fine tip scissors.

My cover is the only page I added any extras to. I printed the tree and heart separately from the page. I used my dry adhesive runner to attach some ribbon to the cover, then glued on my tree. I attached the heart with 3D dots and then glued on some buttons.

Now that my pages were assembled, I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole in each CD. Then I added the ring and tied on some ribbons. Voila! All done! Hopefully my hubby likes it!

To combat the enlargement thing I reduce my image by 1 or 2%, put it on a white background, and then trim off whatever white is printed. At 98% there is a bit of white to trim; at 99% there is no white, but you may lose a few pixels. This works better for me than trying to restrain myself from designing too close to the edge, because I have NO self-control that way! *LOL*
Lovely CD album! I\’ve been eager to try one of these, but since I\’m giving Dad a sort of stepped album the CD may have to wait until Xmas… Maybe…

Honestly I am a father and would rather get those pictures in a frame. Those CD shaped things are gay. What the hell would I do with them other than put them in a drawer somewhere.
